ECER PhD in Germany

About ECER

ECER – short for European-Chinese Centre for Education and Research in Regional Development Planning – is an international network based in Trier, Germany. It is sponsored by the city of Trier and Beijing Normal University, in addition to receiving support from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE). ECER devotes itself to coordinating and managing activities at leading universities in the fields of sustainable urban, regional, and transportation planning.

Today ECER is the largest German-Chinese network in the fields of sustainable urban, regional, and transportation planning. In this network you will find the top universities.

The program’s objective is to bring together the best students and teachers from Germany and China. It does so in three modules:

  • Academic Training
  • Advanced Academic Training
  • Research

The Doctoral Program in the ECER Network

The main requirement for entering a doctoral program (for a Ph.D. or similar degree) is a master’s degree.

We arrange goal-oriented academic training and advanced academic training of the best master’s and doctoral students from Chinese and German universities. The overriding goal is to help overcome the still-worsening regional disparities in China.
