Explore Germany’s oldest city on a SEGWAY – the new and unique art of locomotion. The system functions similar to the equilibrium organ in the ear. Normally, if you begin to slowly fall forward, one of your legs will automatically step forward to stop the movement. If you stand on a SEGWAY and lean your upper body forward, the machine begins to move. If you lean back, it is braked. By moving the handlebars left or right, you can turn left or right or even turn in circles.

Standard route (sightseeing tour)
Similarly to a typical city bus tour, participants explore many Trier city sights – on a SEGWAY. Via an information system, you hear interesting data and important facts, from the old Roman structures to the modern contact places in Germany’s oldest city. The city tour lasts about 2 ˝ hours, including a half-hour introduction and becoming-acquainted session with the vehicle. Tours begin at the Porta Nigra.

The tour leads past the following sights: Zurlauben (old fishing village), past old cranes, Roman Bridge, Barbara baths, Amphitheater, Palace Garden, Imperial Baths, Electoral Palace, Basilika (Roman Throne Room), Cathedral and back to Porta Nigra.
Length: 6.1 mi/10 km
Duration: 2.5-3 hours
Price: € 59.00
Starting point for tour: Tourist Information Trier. Tour participants meet here 15 minutes before begin.
Booking: Tickets are available at our information counter next to the Porta Nigra or online.

Wine Route (Seg&Wine)
This tour also begins at the Porta Nigra. After a half-hour introduction, you "drive" along the Moselle embankment in the direction of Olewig to become accustomed to the machine. After the Amphitheater, you turn left onto Petrisberg Mountain. The Wine Culture Train begins here with a breathtaking view over the city. You will be guided through the different Trier vineyards and learn how the soil and the climate influence the wines and what makes up the special features of the region. The Segway tour ends in the Deutschherrenhof Winery. You will explore the wine cellar here, where you can look over the vintner's shoulder and learn how grapes become wine. Afterwards, you will taste the winery's own wines and enjoy a great vintner's steak. Guests and Segways will, of course, make their separate ways home . . .
